Tennessee men's Basketball history and tradition doesn't compare to Kentucky's. But then Tennessee does have more storied history and tradition than UK in most other sports, including: football, lady's basketball, track and field, etc. Of course, Mr. Hopson will not be playing those other sports. Nonetheless, with kids of Hopson's age, history and tradition only goes a few years back. "History and Tradition" with the younger generation is more about "what have you done lately?" Ironic as that sounds..., think about when you were young. 3 years was an eternity back then.

I just wanted to say thanks for the great info, and for writing the blog. Your blog became a "must click" during the basketball season.

Your and John Clays blog have been very informative and interesting to read.

Thanks.

I ATTENEDED A BASKETBALL CAMP AT GRISSOM HIGHSCHOOL WITH MARVIN IN 1998. I'VE ALWAYS LOOKED UP TO HIM AS AN OUTSTANDING BASKETBALL PLAYER AS WELL AS A LOCAL HERO AND ROLE MODEL. I REMEMBER THE FIRST TIME HEARING ABOUT A 6'6 8TH GRADER AT ED WHITE MIDDLE SCHOOL WITH THE NICK NAME "TREE" ALL OVER LOCAL AREA GYMS AND PLAYGROUNDS. MARVIN TRULY WAS AN OUTSTANDING BASKETBALL PLAYER AND CLEARLY ONE OF THE BIGGEST SPORTS STARS TO RISE OUT OF NORTH ALABAMA. MY PRAYERS AND CONDOLENCES GO OUT TO HIS FAMILY DURING THIS UNTIMELY TRAGIDY.

6 p.m., huh? Timed to coincide with TV news. Pretty transparent effort to take advantage of the situation for UK propaganda purposes.

This is good for UK. This is really big for a boy from the mountains. I know he plays well in Rupp Arena, considering he had 35 in the state tournament. Way to go Landon.

Man I can't believe this. Tennessee doesn't have a tradition, UK does. But Billy G shouldn't have let him get away. I would have took Hopson over Darius Miller any day.
