Jasper, Meeks update

Kentucky Coach Billy Gillispie gave reporters an update on sophomore guards Derrick Jasper and Jodie Meeks on Thursday. He did not see either playing at Indiana on Saturday.

Jasper, who underwent microfracture surgery on June 16, has been practicing this week. But only in some half-court drills. Not in fullcourt workouts.

Meeks, who sustained a stress fracture in the pelvis area, had an X-ray taken on Wednesday. It showed some healing, but also showed the stress fracture remains.

I am a 77 year old die hard Kentucky fan and have been for some 65
or 70 years. I have followed the Uof L team for about 50 years but
only on the days that Kentucky dosen’t play and when kentucky plays
U of L it’s Kentucky all the way. Kentucky is my team.
+Kentucky has always had some of the best guards in the country
and has been a defense minded team as well as a fast break team.
Now I’m not a coach but it seems to me that in order to stress team
work, we are holding our guards back. I feel that we must give our
guards a little more freedom especially ones like Bradley and Crawford.
Yes I agree that patterson should get the ball but he needs to return it
for a good three pointer when he is covered. WE also need to drive
more but we have to recognize the openings. We are making too many mistakes by driving when we should pass.
Keep your mind on the game and develop confidense for we are a much better team than we have shown so far this year under preasure.
God Bless and keep improving. We are a super team so lets play like
    it
P.S. Lets let Legion back on the team, We need Him.
