Former Kentucky guard Alex Legion is expected to choose Illinois as his new school as soon as Friday.
It hadn’t happened as of 3 p.m. EST, but barring a surprise it will happen.

Jerry Tipton of the Lexington Herald- Leader has covered Kentucky basketball since the 1981-82 season. That time includes five coaches, five Final Fours, four athletic directors, two interim athletic directors and many memories. Before coming to Lexington, Tipton worked eight years for the Huntington (W.Va.) Herald-Dispatch. He covered Marshall’s basketball team for two seasons before coming to the Herald-Leader.
So twice he was set to choose Notre Dame, and now he’s set to choose Illinois?
Exscuse me if im skeptical.
I hope Alex likes 58-54 ballgames if he ends up at Illinois. Weber is a slowdown coach who can’t relate to players. He should be thanking his lucky stars that Jerrance Howard came on board and that Nike (through Michael Jordan/Worldwide Wes) decided it would be better for the company if Illinois had a good team. Alex Legion is a Worldwide Wes special.
Watch Jereme Richmond end up at UK in a few years.
I thought his mom said he was going to ND?? I hope you’re right with this prediction, and his mom was talking out of turn. But until he enrolls, anything can happen.
As an Illinois fan, I couldn’t be happier - hopefully this will give the team a little moral boost even though Alex has to sit out. I applaud Coach Gillispie for allowing Alex to transfer to the Illini when he didn’t have to. Good luck to the Cats for the rest of this year.
