Forward Chris Singleton is the big recruiting prize hanging over Kentucky as the week-long signing period begins on Wednesday.
Singleton is a 6-9 forward and top 25 national prospect from Dunwoody, Ga. He has the combination of low-post power and three-point shooting skills that make college coaches drool.
Singleton has reduced his choices to Kentucky and Florida State. He’s expected to announce his choice on Wednesday.
Those looking for signs got a bad one on Sunday night: Pierre Jordan, the point guard on his high school team and a close friend, committed to Florida State.
When asked how his commitment might affect Singleton’s choice, Jordan said, “Uh, I don’t even know. I haven’t even thought of that.”
Jerry Tipton of the Lexington Herald- Leader has covered Kentucky basketball since the 1981-82 season. That time includes five coaches, five Final Fours, four athletic directors, two interim athletic directors and many memories. Before coming to Lexington, Tipton worked eight years for the Huntington (W.Va.) Herald-Dispatch. He covered Marshall’s basketball team for two seasons before coming to the Herald-Leader.
