Six words that should send a shiver down your spines: Jerry Tipton speaks to UK campers.
Yes, I’m afraid it’s true. Billy Gillispie formed a media panel to speak to campers today at UK. Other panelists were Dick Gabriel of Host Communication and UK’s radio network, and Brett Dawson of the Courier-Journal in Louisville.
We spoke on media coverage of the UK team. The campers were part of camp designed for high roller supporters of the program. There were 28 campers.
In addition to listening to the media panel, the campers got a tour of the Joe Craft Center, a detailed descri ption of how each UK department (trainers, strength coach, etc.) impacts the program and a highly-coveted chance to watch practice. Cost of the camp was $1,200.
That put the campers one up on the media.
Good time had by all in the session that featured a laugh-filled examination of the media-coach relationship.

Jerry Tipton of the Lexington Herald- Leader has covered Kentucky basketball since the 1981-82 season. That time includes five coaches, five Final Fours, four athletic directors, two interim athletic directors and many memories. Before coming to Lexington, Tipton worked eight years for the Huntington (W.Va.) Herald-Dispatch. He covered Marshall’s basketball team for two seasons before coming to the Herald-Leader.
